The gateway to Antarctica the seventy continent opens hear with ship departures from November – March every year. A journey of 3 ½ hour by flight from Buenos Aires take you to Ushuaia in Patagonia region of Antartica.
A must do is visit to Tierra Del Fuego National park about 12 Kms from the city. As I reached the National Park was surprised with passion of travellers who stayed there in small tents on forest ground and preparing own food as adventure when temperature is below 5ºC.
Tierra Del Fuego National Park, Ushuaia
There are defined routes to walk in the national park. We chose the shortest route of 2 hours walk to “BAHIA LAPATAIA – The End of the World”. The walk was on a muddy road with Forest, Lakes and Mountains. The nature was at its best.
Tierra Del Fuego National Park, Ushuaia
The park is surrounded by nature and I was eager to reach to my picture postcard destination. I was surprised to find couples of above 70 yrs age walking on our route and they were in Ushuaia for an adventure trip to Antarctica. A salute to their passion which shows you are never too old for adventure and world tour. As I reached the landmark I was refreshed as I was standing on the iconic place – “End of the World” and next day was ship departure to “Antarctica – The wildest, windiest and coldest place on Earth”.
