MANAGING in the

NEW WORLD

As gory as it sounds, nuclear tourism is on the rise. Its enthusiasts are now flocking over in large numbers to Chernobyl in Ukraine, to witness the site of the worst nuclear accident in history that happened in 1986. This trend has generated numerous tourism jobs in the region with tour guides taking great effort in assuring visitors of the safety at such visits. Ukrainian travel agencies are offering stays as close by as possible, across different price ranges. Visitor numbers have been propelled up to fifty-thousand in 2017, up by three-hundred and fifty percent from 2012. Such tourism initiatives are being criticized among some quarters such as the parliament in Germany. But one positive all notice is the eventual power of nature as a lot of old asphalt roads have been taken over by wild grasses. Especially poignant is the abandoned town of Pripyat.
