MANAGING in the

NEW WORLD

During business transformation, certain steps are adopted right at the start such as cost cutting or risk reduction. However, for long-term successful implementation of transformative measures, a more comprehensive approach is required to be followed. The corporate strategy analysis wing at BCG has studied such transformations for en number of companies and found out that there exist two broad trajectories. While both look at short-term recover, one graph leads towards a slow decline, another at long-term flourishing. Unfortunately, the latter is more frequent. This transformation is usually triggered off by some new strategy in place, new business model or change in company vision. However, after this adaptive innovation needs to be carried out. If done correct, it will result in growth, else a failure to innovate.
